The global COVID-19 epidemic has had an unprecedented impact on trade, leading to an increase in cargo transportation costs and posing new challenges to global economic recovery. In view of this, the Hong Kong Electronics Industry Chamber of Commerce, together with the Hong Kong Shippers Council, the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association and the Hong Kong Watch and Clock Industry Federation, jointly organized the "Online Symposium: Shipping Container Trade Challenges" on August 27, 2021 for everyone to discuss For example: the current situation of the shipping market, can the shipper pay the highest freight to ensure that the goods can be loaded on the ship? How is port congestion affecting ship diversion disrupting carrier schedules? Can industry stakeholders work together to address their concerns to achieve a win-win situation? How long will this shipping crisis last? How shippers should reduce risks and other issues.
For this online symposium, we have invited Mr. Ho Lak-kee (Sunny), Executive Director of the Hong Kong Shippers Council, Mr. Liu Shentao (Gary), President of the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association, and Mr. Mr. Choi Chung-fu (Daniel), Chairman of the Watch and Clock Industry Federation, and So Wing-keung (Paul), Vice-President of the Hong Kong Electronics Industry Chamber of Commerce, explained and discussed the recent shipping situation.
