Mr WONG Wang-wah, Assistant Commissioner (Finance & Quality Services), Innovation and Technology Commission, HKSAR Government was invited to be a guest speaker to provide opening remark. The Forum had invited overseas experts in the field of certification and international accreditation and standards to share their views on the future development.
The International Network on Quality Infrastructure and the World Bank recently agreed on a new definition of the QualityInfrastructure (QI): ‘The system comprising the organisations (public and private) together with the policies, relevant legal and regulatory framework, and practices needed to support and enhance the quality, safety and environmental soundness of goods, services and processes.’ This system relies on metrology, standardisation, accreditation, conformity assessment and market surveillance. The themes of the three World Days this year are: WMD – The International System of Units – Fundamentally Better, WAD – Accreditation: Adding Value to Supply Chains and WSD – Video Standards Create a Global Stage.
