CES AsiaR 2018 with more than 500 global companies introducing transformative innovation, including the latest in 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR), Robotics, Startups and vehicle tech and more run through from 13 to 15 June 2018 in Shanghai, China.
Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)TM, kicked off the day with a keynote address. “We’re proud to bring the entire tech ecosystem together this week in Shanghai to focus on the future of tech,” said Shapiro. “The innovations on the show floor create disruption, but also provide solutions. Self-driving vehicles can stop fatalities; AI is making us safer and healthier and drones are helping in disaster relief.” He continued, “CES Asia focuses on what unites us rather than on what divides us.”
Spotlight should be focused on AI in CES Asia 2018. This year is the first time that CES Asia has launched the AI zone and there are 35 AI companies participate to demonstrate their innovative products. For example, the Alibaba artificial intelligence laboratory and Baidu DuerOS showcased their latest achievements in big data analysis, speech recognition, and wisdom prediction technologies, while Tencent, JD.com, and Alibaba.com also demonstrated the results of integrating intelligent horns with their own AI.
Miffy Chen, head of Alibaba A.I. Labs, kicked off day two by announcing TMall Genie AI Union to accompany its TMall Genie. She also announced the world’s first commercial Bluetooth mesh chip at a $1 USD price point. Chen emphasized the humanization, connectivity and ecological services of the TMall Genie intelligent personal assistant, AliGenie.
