Solar Photovoltaic Energy (PV) - From Technology to Business Opportunities
The Hong Kong Electronics Fair is the biggest electronics event in Asia and the second biggest in the world. It has established itself as a key international trading platform for the electronics industry. As the global demand for the use of renewable energy including solar energy is growing, and bring about significant economic benefits to electronics industry of Hong Kong. Hong Kong Electronic Industries Association features a special zone on Solar Photovoltaic Energy (PV), aims to provide a platform for exchanging ideas and information for industry players, prepare themselves to enter the newly emerging industry of Photovoltaic. It also links up local industry to create business matching, either locally or worldwide basis. Our association also organized a conference on Solar Photovoltaic Energy (PV) to confer the feasibility of PV technology in electronics industry and provide a platform for exchanging ideas and information for industry players and specialists.
Solar Photovoltaic Energy (PV) - From Technology to Business Opportunities Conference was held on 14th April 2009. The conference was organized by the Hong Kong Electronic Industries Association (HKEIA), Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks (HKSTP) and Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and it was sponsored by Gold Peak Industries (Holdings) Ltd., Du Pont China Limited and China Solar Energy Holdings Limited. It was one of the deliverables of ITF General Support Programme to promote the technology and industry of Photovoltaic (PV). The conference had received over 250 participants.
The conference began with the welcome remarks from HKEIA chairman Prof. K.B. Chan, followed by opening remarks from Mr. Eddy Chan, Commissioner for Innovation and Technology, HKSAR and Mr. Anthony Tan, CEO, Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks. They all concerned the development of Green Technology, especially on renewable energy, would help to reduce the use of fossil fuels in the generation of electricity and reduce air pollution and the effects of global warming. They believed that enterprises should action timely to lessen our dependence on fossil fuels, and to identify other sources of cleaner energy.
